About Us

Building the Balkans – BtB is a non-governmental organization established in Mitrovica North, on October 28, 2015. BtB has been established in by 5 young members from different ethnicities in Kosovo with the aim of developing communication and relations between youngsters of different communities that live in Kosovo.

Given that the founders and key members of the organization are young graduates in the field of economics, business, and environmental management, this organization was established with the main purpose of building the capacity and professional knowledge of young people for sustainable development, raising awareness of law of nature and environmental issues and management of natural resources in the city of Mitrovica, including the integration of young people in environmental protection.

It also aims to educate, empower and involve young people in Kosovo in various activities that lead to building a successful career and sharing knowledge and practices with young people in European countries.

Youth Empowerment

Empowering youth by providing them with access to education, skills training, mentorship, and opportunities for civic engagement, fostering their personal growth and enabling them to become active agents of positive change in their communities.

Helping Communities

Assisting communities by implementing programs that address their specific needs, such as healthcare services, infrastructure development, access to clean water and sanitation, vocational training, and economic development initiatives, thereby empowering community members to improve their quality of life and build resilient, thriving societies.

Sustainability

Contributing to sustainability by implementing projects that promote environmental conservation, renewable energy adoption, sustainable agriculture practices, and community education on conservation efforts, thereby fostering a culture of environmental stewardship among youth and empowering them to advocate for a more sustainable future.

Networking

Supporting networking among communities by facilitating connections between local organizations, government agencies, businesses, and other stakeholders, fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and resource mobilization to address common challenges and maximize collective impact for community development and empowerment.

Social Justice

Advancing social justice by advocating for equitable policies, conducting research on systemic inequalities, providing legal aid to marginalized groups, organizing grassroots campaigns, and fostering dialogue on issues such as racial equality, gender equity, LGBTQ+ rights, and economic justice, thereby empowering individuals and communities to challenge oppression and work towards a fair and inclusive society for all.
