Inclusive youth work goes beyond physical access. It requires intentional design,
adapted methodologies, and competent youth workers who understand how to
create environments where young people with different abilities can participate
equally and meaningfully. In the field of sport, outdoor and leisure activities, young
people with disabilities often face structural and methodological barriers that limit
their participation and social interaction.

This Toolkit was developed within the project “Capacity building in youth work for the
inclusion of young people with disabilities through quality sports, outdoor and
recreational activity programmes”. The project aims to strengthen the capacities of
youth work organisations and professionals to design, manage and implement
inclusive sport and leisure programmes that promote interaction between young
people with and without disabilities.

The purpose of this Toolkit is to provide both a conceptual framework and practical
tools to support youth workers in adapting spaces, methodologies, and organisational
approaches to ensure inclusive participation. It combines key concepts related to
inclusion in sport and leisure with ready-to-use workshop formats that can be applied
in diverse community settings. The Toolkit content and workshops target directly
youth with disabilities as it is designed specifically in including them in different
adaptive sport and movement methodologies.
